No Costco gas on Maui. I am pretty sure Costco Oahu sells it, don't know about the Big Island. Maui County has the highest gasoline taxes in the state (and Lanai and Molokai that are part of Maui County, the highest prices overall).
Hawaii just increased a new $0.05 tax to $1.05 per barrel of oil- originally this new tax was all to go alternative energy development (I was OK with that) but it was changed last minute and now most of is going to cover budget gaps in payroll and pension expenses for the public workers. The average person that uses gasoline and purchases electricity will pay even more in energy costs this year (which are the among highest in the nation already - now about $0.30 per kWh for electricity) to fund our bloated state payroll, with half of it going to our backward, Department of Education that churns out some of the lowest overall test scores in the nation. If you don't help your kids with their homework, they are screwed here.
It's a shame as that is money that won't go to alternative energy as it was originally promised by our legislature.
