So I'm sitting here at work on a Friday and wanted to listen to CYBI and hear how the Pale 31 I requested turned out and you would think that I'd be able to right? Um...no. Blocked (streaming media) Our IT dept must feel that I will be so engrossed in the program that I won't get anything done. Hello.......it's Friday. Nothing is getting done anyway. Just a rant but I don't like being oppressed by IT.

Back in the day when we allowed streaming music and had a little T1 connection, it would only take 6 douchebag users streaming with their settings at full quality to shut our connection down. We didn't care to spend tons of money on QoS or packet shaping units to squeeze down the streams so they get shut down! We provide speakers and headphone jacks so you can bring in your MP3s but don't eat our precious bandwidth. Now we have over 100Mb/s of bandwidth but we are still dicks about streaming, muhahahaha!

Just a rant but I don't like being oppressed by IT.

Pay for your own bandwidth and you will no longer be among the oppressed.

I remember when senior management at the company I worked at the time for gave me a blank look when I suggested we get an internet connection so the Hawaii, Washington and Alaska offices could communicate at less expense and we could experiment with this WWW thing in Switzerland as well. That was 1995.

Now if you don't have free streaming video bandwidth to your desktop you are being "oppressed"? And a T1 connection is "little".

And nothing has to get done on Friday's? As a Owner that often was my toughest day as payroll had to be funded every Friday and if clients were late on making payments there was money to juggle around to make certain everyone's paycheck cleared and the IRS could be wired transferred their portion that same day as well.

My how times change.
