Hear, hear! When I used to watch the news, I'd tend to get the desire to look for a razor blade.

Sorry BC but California is the "Lucky" one with the highest gas tax http://www.hawaiigasprices.com/Tax_Info.aspx plus I don't know what orifice they are pulling that 6% sales tax out of, Los Angeles county is 9.75%

You are correct, although as you point out the above referenced in inaccurate because it is outdated. Just as California sales tax have increased since that article was written, so have Hawaii's.

We have the highest average overall priced gasoline in the nation (from a combination of high taxes and being in a remote location):

http://www.nacsonline.com/NACS/News/Dai ... 20102.aspx

And the 7th highest gas taxes in the nation (prior to a new tax that was supposed to go to renewables, but was raided on the last day of the legislature and a majority will now go to public sector paryoll and pensions), the highest personal incomes taxes in the nation and in the top 4 in beer taxes in the nation (which was also raised again this year and not in the table below which shows Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina ahead of us):

On the plus side property taxes are low and overall we receive more federal funds than we send to Washington - primarily on Oahu due to the large military presence on that island.
