So there's another forum that I've been a member on for at least 2 years...they really Advocate beer and all it's goodness.
I am looking for a ticket to a upcoming local brew fest and wanted to put up an ISO in their forums...I went into the appropriate forum and saw another post for the same ticket (but for a different time slot of the day). So I put my ISO up for my time slot. Offered cash or trade for said ticket.
Subsequently, I posted a thread in their Help forum asking if it was possible to get an email notification when a private message message arrives (because I don't log on there daily, but don't want to miss a trade offer should one come in).
10 minutes later, I am banned. And IP banned none the less. No email, no message, no reason. Banned and all previous posts deleted. And the other ISO post is still out there by the way.
I've sent 2 emails to their general mailbox and a direct message via Twitter to them very politely asking what I did with no response whatsoever.
I've read and reread all the rules and can't find anything that I did wrong and at this point, I'm getting upset that I wasn't even told what I did wrong to warrant complete removal.
Is this type of treatment SOP for a forum? I ask because I am an admin a huge bulletin board (over 250,000 users) and always give a warning shot or at least an email when someone is removed or doing something that could cause them to be removed.
