Splitting my Brew

Just a quick question.

I want to brew a 20L batch and split it into 2 x 10L batches.
The problem is I have 2 x 25L plastic carboys to ferment in.
A mate told me that there is too much air in the top of the carboy and
this will cause oxidation in the beer.

I thought that the Co2 produced by the yeast will push all the O2 out of the
airlock as Co2 is heavier.

Does anyone have a suggestion on which theory is correct.

Thanks for any advice offered.

Brendan
