Does anyone boil their starter for the full 15 minutes?
Here's a tip. If you forget the yeast nutrient, DON"T add it while the starter is boiling. It took an hour to clean up that mess!

I don't set a timer or anything with starters. 5 to 10 minutes is fine to kill 99.9% of critters.

I have only ever boiled mine for 10 minutes. I believe that is also what is in How To Brew.

If all that you want to do is steralize it then its sterile as soon as it boils.
