Pellets always last better than whole flowers.
+1 on the smell - if they are cheesy, toss them.

Most leaf hops will lose close to 25% of their alpha acids in a year at 60 F. Pellet hops vacuum sealed and frozen will last for years. I'd be surprised if they weren't in great shape. Also the little bit of age they did get probably cut down on any potential grassiness. I'd dryhop. You'll not be sorry.

I'm still using the last of my whole cone Cascade from last August's harvest. Been in freezer bags in freezer since then. I'm figuring them at 5% AA. I'm not dry hopping with them though they smell ok.
