Everything that possibly could have gone wrong on my first AG brew day. I planned to pour it all down the drain until the next day when I figured I might as well pitch, 'cuz I had already made a 3-vial starter and I might as well at least try. It started fermenting rapidly and went for about 6 days with airlock activity. But now it's been about 2 and a half weeks and the kreusen is still floating on both of my carboys. Is this beer worth trying to follow through or should I just go ahead and shitcan it and take it as a very expensive learning experience?

What style is it?

Take a sample and taste it. If it tastes ok (it will still taste yeasty), let it run its course.

I have that happen sometimes. just shake the carboy a bit, it should fall. If not, give it some more time.

Definitely. It can also depend on the strain. Some are just Viagra yeast.

So what else went wrong, exactly? As long as you were sanitary, it might not be that bad. Sounds like you are at least fermenting something. Is it a Kolsch yeast?

You might just have more proteins in there from the all-grain than you've had in the past with extracts. The proteins could be resulting in the longer lasting Krausen.

3 vial starter.....sounds like it may be a big beer.

10 gallon batch, sparge stuck several times, drunken brewer, propane tank ran out at some unknown point during the boil(not sure when, I was trying to cut grass and do some yardwork during 90 minute boil, I came back for 20 minute additionand the fire was out), gave up and left beer in the kettle overnight planning on pouring it out. Decided while hungover at work the next day to go ahead and pitch starter and see what happens. Starter was 2 vials of WLP001 and one pack of 1056. Trying to make Fixed Gear clone with OG of 1.065.
