sacramento

Sun Jan 12, 2014 11:30 pm

Going to visit my son for a week (with a side trip to Hertic and Russian River - telling the wife we are visiting Napa!).

I have not listened for a while - hope all is going well with JZ at the new business and I'm looking forward to tasting his wares.

Anything must do in Sac Town?

Saw a place called Bier Garten that has recently opened up.

Mahalo in advance for any tips.

p.s. Dumped my email address of 20 years this past summer - just got tired of deleting 200+ messages a day AFTER the spam filter.

Breweries: Rubicon, Sudwerks (if its still around), Sac Brewing, Hoppy Brewing

Beer Bars: Dads Kitchen, The Shack

The Bay area is also an easy daytrip to catch a billion more

I haven't been there for a few years so there might be more but these are some good standbys

Cheers! :pop

Babs Delta Diner in Suison City is great for breakfast. Also CJ's BBQ in Fairfield (just outside the gate at Travis AFB) is a hole-in-the-wall but reminds me of good BBQ at home.

If you're driving through Auburn, CA, Knee Deep Brewing makes some really nice IPAs. Auburn Alehouse also makes some really nice beers. In the Sacramento area, Device Brewing is now open (Ken was on Brew Strong a few months ago). He makes some nice IPAs and a good RIS. Track 7 Brewing and Rubicon are good options too. Sacramento Brewing closed a few years ago. Hoppy Brewing isn't worth the time, unfortunately.

A good beer bar like Capitol Beer and Tap Room would also let you try a pretty good selection of Northern California beers. Burgers n Brew is also a really good beer bar downtown.

Good to know. We are headed back to visit friends in the summer and glad to have an update on places to go.
