Red wing capper == good
black wing capper == bad
At least in my experience, the red ones are much tighter than the black ones and wobble less.

Also don't push as hard, just go until the handles are horizontal then hold for 2 seconds.

I had my first break last week when capping with my black wing capper. Destroyed the whole neck of the bottle. I thought I was just super strong... oh swells.

And I would like to add I love the term "waffling".

FWIW bench cappers can smash a bottle once in a while too. I thought they would not, which is why I got one, but had a Fuller's ESB bottle explode in the capper while one of the sprouts was standing next to me in her bare feet!

Later a friend of mine who actually works in the beer bottle business told me he is not surprise, since the bottles are not designed to be capped that way - they are made to grab the collar like the wing cappers do.

Oh well, I'm not giving up my bench capper anyway, justmake sure the kiddies are in the house while I'm capping!
