Mixing pinlocks with balllocks ok?

Mon Oct 09, 2006 10:26 am

I just picked up a couple of mini cornies for $5 at a garage sale the other day. Problem is that 1 is ball lock, which is what the rest of my system is, but the other lil corny is a pinlock. I got all the fittings and gas and serving lines all connected, but I'm still concerned about having different types connected together for serving. Guess I'm probably being too anal, but it does seem odd that pinlocks feel so loose while ball locks feel more solid when they are pushed on. Anyone else have any experience with pinlocks, espcially mixing them with ball locks? Other than the connections, they look like new - all shiny and clean smelling too!

Prost!

Just swap out the posts...
but mixing will make no difference, just more connectors to deal with

I tried that Bub, but unfortunately, the posts were the older style threads, and don't mate up with the 7/16, nor the half inch or even the 15/32 bayonets we had in stock. Wrong pitch on the threads, so I ended up just making up the gas and line fittings for a pinlock, and teeing them together with a gas in to both a pin and a ball lock. Both have check valves, and I got a new picnic serving line put on the pinlock side of things. Only cost me $15 (oh, the joys of working in a home brew store!) so it was cheaper than new posts.

Prost!
