Alternatives to share beer

Tue Oct 24, 2006 8:46 pm

I was looking into alternatives for sharing beer with brewing friends. There are the Party Pigs, 1.5l minikegs, Tap-A-Draft, and ???

What is the best system? What are the benefits/shorcomings of these? What other methods are available? Maintaining both freshness and carbonation levels are paramount.

There are these things that are like the ultimate beer containers. They are made up of glass and come in a bunch of different sizes. Most people call them "BOTTLES" But you can call them what you like.

Oh yeah, I tend to prefer the half gallon bottles aka growlers.

There are also the 2.5 gallon kegs. Those work well for taking a larger amount of beer in a smaller amount of space :) You could always take just one in a smaller cooler with a tap system. Barleypopmaker I think has a setup like that on his website.

I use one to take beer to Poker night, when it's not at my house. My freeloadin', non-brewin' friends seem to like it enough.

I built a couple of these 3L soda bottle minikegs. fits in an insulated shoulder bag for easy toting.
