Tranfer from keg to fermenter

Has anyone ever tried transferring partially carbonated beer back to a fermenter from a keg? Think it'll work without hurting the beer in the end?

My club made a tripel a while ago from which I got two kegs. I put pressure on both and put them in the fridge. I kept pressure on one keg which I've been enjoying. The other keg has sat in the fridge pressurized, but without the QDs connected. The other night at a meeting I tasted a bottle of the same beer, infected with brett and with cherries added. It was awesome! Think it'll work if I put it back in the fermenter then infected it?

Sure, I can't see why not. You might want to purge the fermenter with CO2, but there is probably enough coming out of solution when you transfer to minimize that problem anyway.

you could also just degas and referment in the keg, depending on how much head space you have to work with.
