I've brewed my first two batches in the last two weeks - APA and ESB - both still in carboys and both were extract. BTW - ESB was a full boil with a yeast starter - thanks Brewing Network.

I got my first pieces of all grain gear today. and will probably start with the same styles. I like Oz's suggestion of a Weiss too.

I'm not all that worried about styles - I thoroughly enjoyed the Moonlight Brian Hunt interview. I just think brewing around the style guide sounds like fun. The thought of a fridge stocked with whatever I happen to be in the mood for sounds appealing too.

Jamil, if you're still following this thread - what did you start with? (just curious)

For me brewing to style wasn't a conscience deceision. For years I brewed my favorite two or three "styles", but after I advanced in skill and consistancy I found myself wanting to brew something different. Enter BJCP guidelines.
