Timothy Taylor Landlord

Has anyone worked on a clone attempt for this beer? Ive got the wyeast 1469, golden promise, fuggles, kent goldings and styrian goldings in stock and want to give it a try. Any advice. I know kristen england worked up a recipe for a NB kit. There was also a thread on nb forum but the link to the recipe was busted. I bought a 55 # sac of golden promise so I will probably do a couple versions. Anyone have a recipe that worked out well?

Northern Brewer posted up the Innkeeper Recipe by Kris England. This was probably the recipe you were looking for.

I love this beer!

There is a clone recipe in Graham Wheeler's Brew Your Own British Real Ale at Home, I dont have this book, although I think the recipe is floating around the net somewhere...

Check this out.

Batch Size: 25 litres
Original Gravity: 1042
Final Gravity: 1009
Alcohol Content: 4.4 %
Total Grains: 4,660 gm
Color: 10 EBC 6SRM
IBUs: 35

Grain Bill

4,460 golden promise pale malt

Hop Bill:

styrian goldings hops 42gm (90 mins)
fuggles hops 35 gm (90 mins)
goldings hops 15gm (15 mins)
irish moss 10 gm (15 mins)

Mash Schedule:

90 mins at 66c (151F)

Although I think this would benefit from a significant addition of styrian goldings at flame out...

Theres some chat here and here which should help!

Hi there. After sampling a few of the TT landlord in the UK I got back to NZ and contacted Northern Craft brewers of the UK who had a Timothy Talors Landlord Competition. Here is the recipe they sent me. I have brewed and is a good beer but I have not been able to do a side by side.

For a 5 gal 19L
Boil time 60 min

5 kg English Malt MO or golden Promise
120g 120EBC crystal
120g Wheat

43g Goldings 4.3% 60 min
29g Fuggles 6.1% 60 Min
29g Styrian Goldings 4.1% 60 min

Flame out 20g Styrian Goldings

Mash 67 deg C 153 Deg F
Sparge 70 deg C

Really? All hops at 60 mins apart from a flameout addition? That seems a little weird.

I always remember Landlord as having a smooth, graduated hop palate rather than a blast of bitterness and then some aroma. I'd have maybe put the Fuggles at 15 and the first lot of Styrians at 5 mins.

I brewed my own version of TTL awhile back and it turned out great (read the comments above the recipe). Now that the 1469 is out, I have some and plan to use this same recipe with that yeast!

I did fuggles for bittering 1 oz at 60 minutes, EKG 1oz @ 45 minutes, 1 oz Styrian Golding @ 5 minutes.
Mashed @ 153 for 60 minutes

Golden Promise Base( simpsons)
3 oz Crystal 120
3 oz melanoidin ( Supposedly TT does 2 hour boil, hence the specialty grains)

The taste when I kegged was fantastic, I held off on dry hopping, maybe next time.

Hmmm... that sounds like a good idea if they do indeed boil for two hrs. I think I'll give that a try next time on mine, since I have a buttload of melanoidin malt on hand. :D
