use active primary (carboy) to start 2nd batch?

I was going to try and brew in a week but have plans changed and tomorrow I could brew, I wanted to make a 7.5%+ Imperial Ipa but wanted to use the yeast I have going now.

I've got a 1.060 ipa fermenting with WLP001 since my brewday 4 days ago, is it possible to siphon out some beer and add that for the yeast to start off a brew tomorrow? It's in a carboy primary ferment now so I don't have any good way to collect the yeast on the top... thinking maybe if I just take a quart or so I from the middle and bottom I can get yeast to pitch?

Will this work? Any tips?

PS- I don't really want to move the beer to a seconday (I brewed the Green Flash clone a couple weeks ago and used the 2 week primary and it came out AWESOME, my first time using sImCoE WOW!!!

Thanks,
Rich

It might be a bit late for you, if you've already started fermentation, but this video is a pretty simple way to do it. You may even have all of the equipment that you need already.
