My guess would be yes.
The more important question is why does your light bulb come on when the controller kicks in? Instead of looking for another bulb, how about no bulb at all?

If it has hops in it, it can be light struck. Light and heat are beer's enemies, regardless of the stage of fermentation or beyond.

Of course the light is off when door is closed, because of the toggle switch...

Actively fermenting beer will be much more resistant to skunking simply because the beer is opaque from the yeast during the peak of fermentation. But you should still not let it get exposed to any strong light sources (mainly the sun).
