My guess would be yes. The more important question is why does your light bulb come on when the controller kicks in? Instead of looking for another bulb, how about no bulb at all?
Actively fermenting beer will be much more resistant to skunking simply because the beer is opaque from the yeast during the peak of fermentation. But you should still not let it get exposed to any strong light sources (mainly the sun).
