Green Bay Brewer

Sat Jan 12, 2013 6:08 am

Hi everybody. Been listening to the archives and lurking on the forums for a couple years now and decided to sign up and get in on the asshattery!
I've been brewing for about 7 years (A.G. for 6 years) I brew 10 gallon batches pretty much once a month. I'm a member of the Green Bay Rackers and last year I won a first and a third at the Titletown Open.
Anyway, Hi.
Cheers! :aaron

Welcome to you from just a few miles down the road... There's a few of us Manty Malters on here. I've been brewing for 14 years and have entered and judged the Titletown Open several times. Got my BJCP cert up there through the Rackers as well. Good to see you here. Say hey to Matt and the boys...

Will do. I'll see him tomorrow at the holiday/christmas/festivus party tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to it. Hopefully we'll be celebrating a Packers victory! So far they look like a bunch of :asshat:
How do you go about getting your BJCP cert. up here? I would be interested in getting mine as well.

My favorite beer that I have made so far is my Irish Coffee Porter. I aged it with bourbon and coffee and then added a very smalll bit of vanilla. I haven't entered it in a competition yet, but I'm not sure where I would enter it anyway. Any suggestions?
I also really liked my Belgian Wit which didn't place very well in competitions. The judges didn't like it but the ladies sure did!

Irish coffee porter would fit in specialty beers, category 23.

I agree with Category 23 for the Bourbon Vanilla Coffee Porter. Sounds tasty.

Regarding the BJCP, I'm not sure if they still hold classes every so often there or not, but ask Mike Conard if there is anything in the works. He typically runs the Titletown Open and he arranged the BJCP class, I think it was back in 2006 when I was in it. I know they've had one or two classes since but I don't know if it is a recurring thing or if Mike has stepped back from it or what. Been a couple years since I've talked to him.
