Greetings from Boston

Hey guys, my name is Brian but most call me Archie. The nickname is a play on my last name and was bestowed upon me in High School. I just wanted to step out of the shadows and become a bit more active in the brewing communities. I've been home brewing now for a couple of years and I've leeched so much information and techniques from the internet and the Brewing Network. I figured I'd try to contribute back in some way. I do a lot of Brewery tours here in New England. I originally grew up in Maine so I've done quite a few up there. I was thinking of maintaining a thread of New England brewery tour reviews if it hasn't already been done already.

Besides all that me and my room mate brew beer using all grains. Wes (my room mate) got into it right after we graduated college together. I got into home brewing about a year after he did. But now we have some recipes that do really well and friends who like to donate some money if we supply them with some pony kegs of beer, I can't complain. Life is good.

I also wanted to say thank you who ever puts together the orders for the Brewing Network Store because I ordered a T-shirt and a sticker and got a second sticker free, which is sick because I had to give the second sticker to my room mate to put on his Sticker keg. He always said he hates talk radio when driving to work in the morning but now after I explained the sticker to him, he's been listening to the pod casts every morning. So thank you. Here's a couple pictures of us (I'm the taller one on the right) and our kegs. Also that's our pride and Joy the "Possum Kegerator" in the background. I have progression pictures if anyone is interested.

Welcome! I think this is a great idea that will be well received. I'd suggest putting it in the 'Travel' section of the forum.

Welcome Archie from your neighbor to the North!

I like your brewery tour idea. Have you seen Norman Miller's book, "Beer Lover's New England" yet? Could make a nice little roundmap for summer travels in New England.

This week is Portsmouth Beer week. If you're ever in Portsmouth, swing by Earth Eagle Brewings (adjacent to A&G Homebrew Supply at 165 High Street ). Alex and Butch are doing some great stuff with Gruits, and other special ingredients ( i.e. hogs head ). Check their Facebook page for tasting room hours.

Welcome! Great to have ya. Post those progression pics for your kegerator in the Brewing Equipment section. Did you guys coat it with chalkboard paint? I'd like to see a clearer shot of the illustration on it...looks pretty sweet.

Cheers,

Yes, actually my room mate got that book for Christmas. I'm trying get all the bigger ones in New England. I've done most of them but I'm missing Red Hook, Magic Hat and Smutty Nose. I plan on getting to more this summer for sure.

I went to The New Hampshire Brew Fest in October which was great. I just need to get in on some tours in NH.

Yes, and I'll post 'em up when I get back from work today.
