Welcome to today's society. The let's not keep score so we don't hurt anyone's feelings generation. Reading the AHA thread is exhausting & embarrassing. For them, not us.

It's also made me realize that this isn't the same hobby as it was when I started 13 or so years ago, and it has nothing to do with the level of information currently available. Back then homebrewers were the best people you could know. Super friendly, helpful & there was a camaraderie like I'd seen no where else. These days it's grown adults bitching, whining & throwing tantrums over the stupidest trivial bullshit. It used to be about the beer, the fellowship & dare I say it, the asshattery. Not points, medals & awards that, quite frankly, don't mean a thing beyond bragging rights.

Yyyyyyup!

As I was watering my garden today I thought about this nonsense. I cant see myself having any kind of fun in Baltimore. I've not been to NHC yet, and rapidly getting to the point that I may not ever go.

I wonder what a BN Army convention would look like? A kick off party, a one round brewing competition, maybe a couple talks by respected brewers, and an awards BBQ. Music? No Melvins from Office Space whining about getting the wrong salad dressing! Even if it was in the bay area every year, I would be there. Especially if it was laid back with camping...

Mentioned it earlier but I'll say it again, don't judge NHC just based on this one issue. It's so small compared to the rest of the event. Those people that are booing and complaining, they'll likely be the nicest person you've ever met when just mingling at the conference. They are just being sandy on the internet and dumbasses for a brief moment. NHC is a collection of the nicest people you'll ever meet, up until the club of the year announcement. It's bizarre.

Ok I'll go, and do my best to suck it up and not ruffle the feathers of douche bags booing when we win, again.

I'm relatively new to the hobby, only 2 years in, but I have to say this rings really true to me. From some of my interactions I really get the impression that a lot of homebrewers are these angry, all knowing, self righteous folks. It is a real turn off to the hobby and a lot of the reason I won't join a "real" club.

Uh, ya. I don't think there's a lot of them, but they are there. Same bunch that tries to turn the BJCP into a priesthood.

Side note, I sure would like to hear this question next time the BN interviews candadates for AHA.

"So, what do you think about the BN winning COTY five years in a row?"
